The Lululemon Athletica store in Bethesda is under renovation and set to reopen in the upcoming months, the company announced on its Facebook page Monday.
The yoga apparel shop has been closed since March 11, when employee Brittany Norwood killed coworker Jayna Murray inside the store. After the murder, the Lululemon stores in Georgetown and Logan Circle closed temporarily out of respect but have since reopened.
The company is looking forward to rebuilding the Bethesda store after the incident, though it has not yet announced an opening date.
“Throughout this tragedy, we have been grateful for the overwhelming support & love from the Bethesda community,” the company wrote in its post. “We remain committed to the people of Bethesda and want to begin the first step to healing together.”
After the company announced its reopening, dozens of community members expressed their support.
“The positive energy of the Bethesda team is unwavering,” Stacy Greanias posted on the company’s Facebook wall. “All my support & love as a stronger passion is rebuilt.”
Many students said they are more apprehensive about entering the store after the murder.
“I would definitely not go back in there,” sophomore Caroline Elmendorf said.
Junior Daniela Cuellar said she would reconsider entering the store, but not for a long time.
“It’s freaky,” she said.
