The girls’ lacrosse team (7–5) destroyed the Poolesville Falcons (7–4) 15–4 on Thursday afternoon.
In the first quarter, Whitman took a sizable lead, with senior Corinne Armstrong scoring multiple goals and leading the Vikes’ offence. The Vikes plowed through the Falcons’ defense all quarter, and were leading 5–1
In the second quarter, it was more of the same. The girls were bouncing off one another, the ball flying from pocket to pocket, darting straight into the back net. At halftime, the score was 11–2 Vikes.
In the second half, Poolesville quickly came out strong with two goals. However, this was no obstacle for the Vikes, as they pushed through to a final score of 15–4 Whitman.
Throughout the match, Whitman caused many turnovers. The Whitman girls, specifically junior Devon Pratt, kept stealing the ball from Poolesville, preventing them from scoring.
This was an important and meaningful win for the girls, as it was their last game of the season. It was especially special for the seniors as it was their senior night, leaving on a high note.
