Softball demolishes Richard Montgomery 16–3

By Mia Kanczuker

The softball team (6–3) crushed the Richard Montgomery Rockets (5–4) 16–3 on Tuesday afternoon on their home field.

The game started with the Vikes coming out strong by getting seven hits and ten runs in the first inning. The Rockets couldn’t retaliate and had zero hits in the first inning. Whitman pushed for a more significant lead, getting three hits and one run in the second. Richard Montgomery found it challenging to catch up and only scored three runs throughout the game. With two hits in the second, two in the fourth, and one at the top of the fifth. The Rockets got their three runs in the fourth inning, but that didn’t stress the Vikes.

Whitman couldn’t keep their rally in the third. But they ended strong in the fourth and got three more hits and five more runs, ending the game with 13 hits and 16 runs.

Senior Alanna Singer went 3–4 as a switch hitter, and junior Harper Barnowski went 4–4 with three singles and one double.

The Vikes will hit the road this Thursday to face the Walter Johnson Wildcats (7–1) at 3:45 pm.
