Boys soccer crushes Sherwood 4–0 in regular season opener

By Diego Elorza

The boys soccer team (1–2) trounced the Sherwood Warriors (0–2) on Friday night with a dominant 4–0 win.

After a couple of rough non-conference matchups to begin the year, the Vikes got back on track in their regular season opener. The game started off with strong attacking play from the Vikes, as around the 10 minute mark sophomore Sean Curran’s beautiful 20-yard missile found the back of the net. For the rest of the half, the Vikes were pressing aggressively and left the Warriors with little to no opportunities to cross midfield.

The Vikes started the second half with incredible momentum, and an early goal by senior Luke Kullback gave the team a 2-0 lead. The Vikes remained outstanding on defense and transition to the midfield, showing signs of a promising squad. After a few more attacking opportunities, senior Kai Satriano added another goal to the tally. With just about a minute and a half left on the clock, Curran scored his second goal of the match to complete the 4–0 beatdown.

The Vikes will look to keep the streak going when they travel to Damascus (1–0) on Thursday afternoon.
