Cross Country started their season by racing at the Seahawk Invitational on September 7th. The girls took third place behind Howard and Severna Park, while the boys placed fifth.

Seniors Emmersen Weinberg and Alicia Lauwers led the Vikes in the three-mile, placing 20th and 21st with times of 19:30.3 and 19:31.6 respectively.

Sophomore Jackson Megary headed the boys three-mile, coming in 20th with a time of 16:22.5. Trailing was sophomore Mark Cunniff and senior Ben Lesser, placing 32nd and 41st with times of 16:43.8 and 16:58.4 respectively.

“The course was flipped from last year so there were more flats and downhills,” Megary said. “With that and the good weather conditions, my teammates and I got personal records so I think this meet was a great start to the season.”

The Vikes race next in a duel meet on Tuesday at Sherwood High School.
