The boys soccer team (0–0–1) tied the DeMatha Stags (0–1–1) 0–0 in the season opener Friday night.

Strong defense on both sides led to limited chances throughout the first half. The Vikes’ offense saw more chances in the second half but were unable to finish. The score remained 0–0 at the end of regulation time, leading to two scoreless periods of overtime.

Winger Harmond Cohen had the best chance in the first overtime when he shot the ball over the right corner of the goal, barely missing.

“Although it would’ve been nice to put a few chances in the back of the net, I thought we played a good game,” Cohen said.

The team next faces the Urbana Hawks (1–0) Saturday at Winston Churchill High School at 6:00 pm.
