Softball no-hit in 3–0 loss against Blair

By Eli Putnam

The girls softball team (12–4) fell to the Blair Blazers (9–6) in a pitchers duel Tuesday 3–0. Blair managed to stifle the Vikings’ hot bats by throwing a combined no-hitter. Blair pitchers Courtney Wyche and Mandy Moser only allowed five baserunners in seven innings while striking out nine Vikings.

For the Vikes, pitcher Riley Kuehn pitched seven innings, striking out 12 batters and only giving up five hits without walking a single Blair batter. However, the defense struggled to make routine plays allowing three errors, leading to all three of the Blair’s runs.

After securing the one seed and a first round bye, the Vikings will take on the winner of the Walter Johnson vs Einstein first round playoff game. The game will be played at home in the second round of the playoffs Monday, May 13 with a time to be determined.
