The boys tennis team (9-1) will advance to the State Championship Friday after an outstanding performance at regionals.

The team performed well throughout their week long competition, placing as a finalist for singles and champions for doubles.

“Evin McDonald for singles and Kevan Nathani and Zach Rosen for doubles will be going to states,” coach Jasen Gohn said. “Eve Gold and Sarinah Wahl from the girls team will also be going to states.”

The tournament brought top schools from across the county together. Wootton was the biggest competition for the singles and Richard Montgomery was the toughest to beat for doubles, Gohn said.

“Wootton has been my biggest competition throughout my whole high school career,” junior Evin McDonald said. “But I’m going to make sure I go to my academy and practice and get private lessons with my coaches just to make sure I’m prepared for friday.”

The teams next play in the State championships starting Friday at 10am at Wilde Lake Tennis Center in Howard County.

Last year the boys team placed in several matches at states, and they hope to continue their winning streak this year and win the championships.

“Every year we’ve sent people to states,” Gohn said. ”There’s five state championships that are handed out every year in Maryland, every year we usually get one of those, sometimes two.”
