September 22 Sports Recap

Girls volleyball

The volleyball team (2–1) fell to the B-CC Barons 3–2, in a back-and-forth game that saw the lead change hands multiple times.

The Vikes lost the first set 25–23, won the second 25–23, fell in the third 25–12, won the fourth 25–22, and finally fell in the fifth set 25–8. The Vikes were again led by outside hitter Olivia Personeni, who had 10 kills and one block. Setter Maddie McGill also contributed with seven kills and and three blocks.

The team’s next game will be Tuesday at home against the Northwood Gladiators.

Boys soccer

The boys soccer team (5–2) throttled the Northwood Gladiators 7–0 on Thursday. The Vikes were in control the entire game, scoring three goals in the first half and four in the second.

Forward Andreas Djurhuus led the team with the three goals, while midfielder Matthew Baker, and forwards Adam Deutchman and Juneau Kim each scored a goal.

The team’s next is away Monday against the Kennedy Cavaliers.

Girls soccer

The girls soccer team (3–1–1) trumped the Northwood Gladiators on the road 11–1, their highest scoring output of the year.

Before this game the Vikes had combined to score only one goal in the last three outings, while allowing three from their opponents.

The Vikings play Kennedy at home at 7:15 on Monday.
