The girls soccer team (8–0) shut out the Einstein Titans 9–0 Wednesday as they celebrated Senior Night to honor their four captains.

Midfielders Kristen Bissell and Kate Morrison and defenders Lindsay Wytkind and Cristina Valianatos have played on the team since their freshman year, winning two state titles along the way.

“Tonight was all for the seniors,” forward Abby Meyers said. “We tried getting them to have their moment and they did, so it was great to have them accomplish that.”

The Vikes headed straight for goal after the kickoff, and within five minutes midfielder Ellie Harris got the ball to Meyers, who angled in a shot well above the goalie’s head.

In the next half-hour, forward Caroline Smith, Bissell and defender Melika Mohammadi all added to the score, followed by a drive up the wing by Valianatos, who passed to Morrison for the last goal of the half.

The rest of the game played out similarly: the Vikings maintained pressure on offense, scoring two goals off corner kicks.

Notably, forward Caroline Macdonald had numerous breakaways down the side of the field,  one of which converted into a goal after a pass to forward Alyssa Prill quickly followed by another goal from Bissell.

“There’s definitely things we can take away from this game, like quick one-touches, dribbling down the sidelines and crossing,” Meyers said. “It was a great game.”

The girls will face the National Cathedral Eagles (1–1–6) at 4:00 today at home.
