Despite losing, the Vikes had two impressive comebacks during the second and fourth sets.

The first set started off well for the Vikings, but a lack of communication on defense led to the Patriots’ eventual 25–20 win.

The Vikes’ outstanding comeback in the second set resulted from the Patriots cracking under pressure and hitting the ball into the net numerous times when receiving, quickly bringing the Vikings from losing 22–10 to tied 24–24. After eight consecutive serves by back row Andrew Gates, the Vikes obtained a 26–24 win.

“It was a tough game overall,” setter Lily Carlson said, “but we had an amazing second set which was a 15 point comeback and they were at set point the entire time, so we proved our resilience.”

The third set ended up much like the first set, and Whitman fell 25–19.

The Patriots’ offense was once again prevalent in the last set, and the Vikings struggled to return their hits. The Vikes made their second comeback, only down by two towards the end of the set after falling behind 19–10, before ultimately falling 25–21.

The team heads to Seneca Valley Monday at 5:15 to take on the Screaming Eagles, searching for their seventh win of the season.
