Boys cross country wins regional championship, girls finish fifth

After winning the county championship, the boys cross country team continued its success Thursday by winning the regional championship.

Senior Evan Woods finished second overall again, posting a 15:51 time.

The boys edged out Wootton, who finished 25 points back.

Amir Khagani, Alex Roederer, Ben Gersch, and William Ryba also scored for the Vikes, finishing in the eight, 12, 14 and 36 respectively.

On the girls side, sophomore Olivia Woods and junior Erin O’Connor both cracked the top 10, with Woods finishing eighth and O’Connor finishing 10th.

The girls finished 89 points behind first-place Walter Johnson.

Both teams will compete for the state championship next Saturday at Hereford High School.
