The field hockey team opened the season with a intense 1-0 double overtime victory over the Northwest Jaguars.
From the start of the game to the first overtime, it was a stalemate with impenetrable defense on both ends of the field. Despite Northwest’s wall of a defense, the Vikings played consistently and fought hard throughout the entire 78 minute game, with midfielder Chelsea Markus scoring game winning goal in double overtime.
“Our defense stayed strong and the offense played tough,” midfielder Amal Haque said. “The whole team kept the ball on our half for the majority of the time.”
