The baseball team shut out the Gaithersburg Trojans 12-0 in five innings April 6, improving its record to 4-1.
The Vikes are now ranked fourth in Montgomery County, only behind Georgetown Prep, Quince Orchard and Poolesville, according to MoCo Baseball.
After losing to Gaithersburg two of the last three years in the playoffs, the Vikes got their revenge, mercy-ruling the Trojans in five innings.
Pitcher Alex Claduhous pitched four solid innings for the Vikes, while Max Steinhorn closed out the game.
Second basemen Ben Castagnetti once again led the Vikes on offense, driving in 6 RBI’s. Steinhorn contributed four hits of his own.
“We are really starting to hit the ball well as a team,” Castagnetti said. “We are now one of the hottest teams in the county and hopefully we can keep it going for the remainder of the season.”
The boys face off against the Quince Orchard Cougars April 9 in a big game at home.
