The girls basketball team defeated the 1-2 Quince Orchard Cougars 59-46 Dec. 11, boosting its record to 2-1.
Coach Kenah showed the Vikes film of the Cougars playing so they would be mentally prepared and know what to expect, center Rebecca Ford said.
“We knew that there were two girls that we needed to watch out for and shut down, and we were able to do just that,” she said.
The Vikes dominated in the first half, putting 23 points on the board and outscoring the Cougars by 10.
Guard Kim Durante was the top scorer of the game with 12 points. Not only was she on par from the field, but she was draining shots from beyond the three-point arc as well.
The Vikes made vast improvements on the foul line, making 75 percent of their free-throws, outdoing the Cougars, who shot 67 percent from the line.
The Vikings will face off against the 2-1 Magruder Colonels Dec. 11.
