Police arrested a male sophomore for marijuana possession at around 11:00 a.m. Feb. 17, according to a county police spokesman.
Administrators also disciplined two other male sophomores and one male junior, principal Alan Goodwin said. Security alerted school officials and investigated the students after observing suspicious behavior on surveillance cameras.
“We occasionally have serious incidents at this school,” Goodwin said. “Fortunately, they’re limited to just a few a year. [But] we don’t always catch students doing things they shouldn’t do. It’s probably more prevalent than we know.”

So sad that things like this happen. My philosphy is tha if something has more pros than cons (i.e. drinking, drugs) Just don’t do it. Why waste time in a hospital with liver problems for one small moment of happiness? If there’s other alternatives to drinking, invest your time in those.

@Phillip Riz: So… you are saying that a student carrying pot is worse than 35 students drinking in access, which just got them barred from after-school activities, and some other non-expelling punishments? OK.
@Johnny Mooers: Drugs ARE bad. Did you not get the overblown message from the drinking scandal, which was on 9 News? Drugs and drinking are synonamous, both illegal and detrimental to your interal body systems.
@Jeff Marr: True, but I’m glad this incident did not go public all around school like the drinking scandal. Huh, maybe Whitman is learning from the sex and drinking scandal after all!
