Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” set to become new summer hit

Lady Gaga premiered one of her best songs yet, “Edge of Glory,” May 9. The third single off her album “Born This Way,” the song has a fresh beat and a more traditional pop sound.

The song opens with an unexpected chorus of harmonies. Gaga then continues with a simple, but addicting, melody: “There ain’t no reason you and me should be alone tonight, yeah baby.”

Gaga preaches her carefree message about youth, which resembles that of Katy Perry’s hit “Teenage Dream.” Finishing up her chorus, Gaga chants, “I’m on the edge of glory, and I’m hanging on a moment of truth, out on the edge of glory, and I’m hanging on a moment with you.”

Perhaps the most distinctive part of her latest single is the saxophone solo incorporated in the last half of the song. The saxophone continues to accompany Gaga’s voice, along with a pumping beat and an electric orchestra. As Gaga’s voice fades out, she leaves the saxophone in, adding a jazzy touch and bringing the song to a soaring conclusion.

Her song, still true to her own style, resembles that of a late ’80s to early ’90s song with its unusually long and seemingly repetitive chorus. Still, Gaga captivates with her appealing vocals and fascinating sound, adapting the song perfectly to the twenty-first century.

Gaga’s new single is clean, bright and entertaining. Its light message and catchy beat makes it perfect for letting go — just in time for a great summer hit.

Sorry, Judas is much better. This song is quite boring. But well written article!
