The girls’ tennis team (8–1) defeated the Poolesville Falcons (2–7) 5–2, while the boys (5–4) fell to the Falcons (4–3) 2–5.
While the boys’ team sought to secure a home win for Whitman, they couldn’t manage it against a strong Poolesville team, which quickly pulled away and never looked back.
The girls’ team, however, got off to a strong start, with all three doubles securing wins early on. The Falcons fought back, but impressive performances from sophomores Renata Cavallo and Cara Cheriathundam, as well as all other doubles teams, maintained the momentum for the Vikings.
This energy carried on throughout the singles matches as well, with Elizabeth Soueid dominating and securing one out of two singles wins for the Vikes.
Both the girls’ and boys’ teams will next play rival B-CC in the Battle of Bethesda on Friday, April 17, at 3:30 pm; the girls will play at home and boys will play away.
