Girls soccer fell to the Poolesville Falcons 1-0, Oct 13, dropping their record to 5-4 on the season.
The game was played on Poolesville’s sloppy field that was beaten up by a combination of football and rain, thus not allowing the Lady Vikes maintain possession and tempo like they are accustomed to. Due to the obstacles, the game progressed into kick ball and neither team could settle down.
The first half proved scoreless, with neither team getting a good look at the net. However, as the teams tired out in the second half, the field opened up and created more opportunities.
With five minutes remaining, the Falcons converted a free kick near the sideline to take a one goal lead.
The Lady Vikes pushed players forward in a desperate attempt to score but the Falcon’s defense stood strong during the final attack.
