DECA places third at states

The DECA team placed third at the statewide tournament Feb. 21-22 held at the Marriott Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

Whitman sent 48 members to compete in events divided into five career clusters: Business Management and Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, Marketing, Finance and Entrepreneurship. The following individuals qualified for the international competition in Orlando in April.

 

Business Management and Administration

Seniors Eric Paxson and Ben Wolfe placed third in Business Law and Ethics Team Decision, a partner event.

Hospitality and Tourism

Senior Thomas Fratantoni placed first in Quick Serve Restaurant Management.

Junior Aditi Gujaran placed third in Hotel and Lodging Management.

Junior Rasika Dronamraju placed second in Restaurant and Food Service Management.

Sophomore Abby Chen placed third in Principles of Hospitality and Tourism.

Sophomore Daniel Molina placed second in Quick Serve Restaurant Management.

Marketing

Senior Nathan Schaefer placed third in Automotive Services Marketing.

Senior Mira Dwyer placed first in Retail Merchandising Series.
Junior Rony Stephan placed first in Automotive Services Marketing.

Junior Julia Choppin placed second in Food Marketing Series.

Finance

Senior Ben Meron placed first in Business Finance.

Senior Jared Lapidus placed first in Financial Consulting.

 

In an uncategorized event, junior Lukas Troost also placed first in Personal Financial Literacy. In addition, seniors Ben Meron and Thomas Fratantoni finished first place and second place, respectively, for the Louis T. Kaminski Scholarship. The team was awarded for their Thrive Membership Campaign and Chapter Campaigns.
