Varsity girls basketball beat the Churchill Bulldogs 65-41, March 3, advancing to the regional finals.
The lady Vikes kept a comfortable lead through the majority of the game. The third-seeded Bulldogs kept it competitive, but could not match Whitman’s dynamic players as the girls pulled away in the end.
With a 29-17 half time lead, the Vikings kept up their intensity into the third quarter.
Senior guard Susan Russell has consistently been a team leader, and this game was no exception. Russell’s outstanding 3-point jumpers kept the energy up and the fans on their toes.
The second seeded Vikings go on to play fourth seed Gaithersburg on Saturday, March 6, at Blair High School for the regional finals.
