Varsity boys basketball defeated the Churchill Bulldogs 58-51 in their first playoff game, March 2 advancing to the regional semi-final.
The Bulldogs scored early in the game and were up 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. But the Vikes started the second quarter off strong with three pointers by junior Daniel Voigt and Eddie Wytkind and had a 13-2 run thanks to strong offensive attack led by senior captain Charlie Waugh. The boys ended the first half leading 32-27. The Vikes continued to breeze past the Churchill defense but the Bulldogs came back with one minute left in the quarter. The Vikes maintained their lead in the fourth quarter and senior Eddie Wytkind scored both free throws to secure the win for the Vikes. The boys will play at Richard Montgomery this Thursday .
