Basketball loses heartbreaker to Springbrook

Varsity boys basketball lost 69-67 to the Springbrook Blue Devils, Feb 17, falling to 12-5.

Springbrook is 17-0 and has not lost a game since February of 2007. Whitman dominated most of the game and led by 17 points at halftime.

However, Springbrook took the lead with around six minutes left in the fourth quarter and held on for the win. Whitman came back to close the gap to one with less than a minute left but a Blue Devil free throw secured the victory.

Whitman was led by seniors Demetrius Cooke and Charlie Waugh who shouldered the offensive burden. Now 12-5, the boys face Magruder tonight, Feb 18 at 7:00. The winner of this game will take the #3 seed in playoffs, will get a bye and get a home advantage.
