The Wrestling team won its 4A/3A regional meet at Clarksburg high school, Feb 16, defeating Magruder for the sceond time this season 36-34 and Clarksburg 36-34.

Against Magruder, the Vikes were down four points entering the 112 pound bout, but senior Sawyer Symington pinned Nick Ferentinos in one minute fifty-five seconds to give the Vikes the victory.

The team then moved on to face a tough Clarksburg group. The Vikes came out slow and went down 23-12 after 8 matches but changed the momentum with pins from 189 pounder Taylor Leighton, 210 pounder Danny Lee and heavyweight Ned Daryoush.

Clarksburg battled back and won the 103 pound match against Jacob Rosenblum. Whitman, up by one point, won the match when Sawyer Symington won another clutch bout against Mac Raum. With the match already in the books, the Vikes forfeited their last match to rest their squad.

With the win and a perfect season on the line, the Vikes will hit the mats Saturday at Blair for the county finals.
