In response to the attack on Whitman students at the last basketball game against BCC, Whitman will have extra security at the January 29 game. BCC also plans to send extra staff to help patrol the stands and the parking lot. Whitman has been assured that the BCC attackers are not allowed to attend MCPS sporting events and will not be at the game tonight.
“I hope that we can have a safe evening,” Princical Dr. Alan Goodwin says. “It is too bad we have to take these measures, but we are compelled to.”
Whitman has had few violence issues in the past and administrators hope that this game will prove no different.
“We rarely have issues at home games,” Goodwin says. “We have been in contact with BCC administrations and are equipped for tonight’s game.”
