Whitman wrestling remains undefeated

Whitman wrestling extended their undefeated regular season record with a 54-16 win over Northwest.

The meet began with 171 pounder Rafi Sayada getting pinned in the second period. However, the Vikes quickly regained the lead with pins from 189 pounder Taylor Leighton, 210 pounder Danny Lee, and heavyweight Ned Daryoush.

Then, 103 pounder Jacob Rosenblum fought hard but was pinned in the third period. 112 pounder Sawyer Symington won by forfeit and his twin, 119 pounder Dylan Symington, won 11-2 to extend the Vikes lead to 28-12. The Vikes gave up ground when 125 pounder Ben D’elia lost 11-2. The Vikes would not let their lead slip with wins from 130 pounder Eric Harder and 135 pounder Jordan Tritell.

The Vikes would not concede any more points with pins coming from 140 pounder Brad Taylor and 160 pounder Alex Hysong and wins from 145 pounder Michael Harder and 152 pounder Andrew Follman.

The Vikes look to continue their undefeated season with a double meet on January 30 against Sherwood and Poolesville at home.
