Students came out glowing in neon crop-tops, gold lamé leggings and their best sneakers for the 12-hour dance marathon bRAVE Feb. 25.

The new event carried on until 2 a.m. the next day, raising over $9,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
For the first-ever marathon, the SGA set up tables with donated food from Kraze Burger, Sweetgreen, Quartermaine’s Coffee, Bethesda Bagels, Georgetown Cupcake and Naked Pizza, among other vendors. Poms, cheerleaders and the breakdance club performed, as did student bands like “Leslie and Kate” and “Deez Notes.”
When student bands weren’t performing, D.C. company JG Entertainment DJ and duo Evan Baker and Tony Atkinson (’11) played music that ranged from pop hits like “Glad You Came” to a more obscure remix of “The Circle of Life” from “The Lion King.”
Inspiration for the event came from Thon, Penn State’s annual 46-hour dance marathon.
“People saw that Penn State does this, so we decided to have a dance-a-thon,” said junior Jacob Rosenblum, co-head of the planning committee. “We thought a rave theme would be appealing. It obviously was, judging by the number of crop-tops there were.”
