Varsity hockey defeated the Wootton Patriots 6-2 in their biggest game of the season thus far, putting them at the top of their division.
Varsity boys basketball lost to the Richard Montgomery Rockets (11-2) 72-65 in a close game after winning by one point in overtime their last meeting. The boys are now 9-4 on the season. The girls, on the other hand, beat the Rockets 61-50, and are now 10-3.
The girls went in confidently against the 4-9 Rockets, who eventually displayed Whitman’s weaknesses when they closed a huge gap to just two points in the beginning of the fourth.
Guards Susan Russel and Caroline Kahlenberg led the girls with a game-high 20 points and eight assists, respectively.
The girls will travel to Walter Johnson to play the 6-7 Wildcats on Jan 25. They are now tied for first place in the Montgomery 4A West division while the boys are tied for second.
