Girls basketball dominates Wootton

Varsity girls basketball defeated the Wootton Patriots 55-35, Jan 5, improving its record to 6-2.

The game started off with a 14-0 lead for the girls, and even though the Patriots (4-4) then began scoring, they never came closer than ten points behind the Vikings.

Wootton’s star player, junior Gabby Finchum, led the team but didn’t perform her best, even though there were two college scouts in attendance to watch her.

Swing forward Susan Russel lead the ladies with 16 points, and proved that she and point guard Caroline Kahlenberg combine to make an unstoppable pair through out the game. Each of the Lady Vikes’ six wins this season have been by over ten points, and the team has only lost to undefeated Paint Branch and Baltimore private school Seton Keough.

The girls move on to host Walter Johnson on January 7 in an attempt to further improve their record and take back their reputation as a Montgomery County powerhouse.
