Nickelodeon’s eighth annual Worldwide Day of Play packed the National Mall Sept. 24, as kids of all ages enjoyed fun and active games and learned about how to live healthy lifestyles. During the day, the television network didn’t broadcast any shows to encourage kids to go outside.
The free event attracted hundreds of kids, who wanted to see their favorite celebrities. Victoria Justice, Keke Palmer, Nathan Kress and Jennette McCurdy all attended the festival, and Big Time Rush and the Fresh Beat Band performed.

It’s just a publicity stunt. This just gets the kids more excited for the future shows. If it didn’t result in increased profit, Viacom wouldn’t be doing it.

Do kids really need a TV channel to encourage them and celebrities to show up before they will go outside and play? That’s just depressing.
