AP Calculus BC students visited Burning Tree Elementary school March 17 to teach fifth graders a lesson about pi and celebrate Pi Day. The original March 14 celebration was cancelled due to the snow day.
Members of the Watkins Mill girls basketball team were excited to play in a March 3 regional finals basketball game, the culmination of their season. During the game, coaches attempted to ensure that every girl had a chance to showcase her skills, and they all did—except for junior Je’Nan Hayes.

Paddling furiously, Brandon Huff catapulted the football towards his teammate on the other end of the pool, who caught it and shot to the end zone to score the winning touchdown for their team. Though this doesn’t sound like a typical charity event, this competition is part of Team River Runner’s annual kayak football tournament at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center March 4.
Seven students huddled together against the cold evening air as they approached the entrance to the looming facade of the Montgomery County Circuit Court. After passing through metal detectors and taking an elevator up nine floors, they took their places in Courtroom 9B.
