Motivation for local shooting still unclear

The police continue to search for the suspect of the shooting that occurred in the 6800 block of Millwood Road in the Kenwood Park neighborhood Oct. 8.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear. Montgomery County police said that the victim, former Whitman parent, Ashoka Mody, was shot on the driver’s side of the Mody’s minivan after he pulled into his garage around 7:30 pm last Thursday. It is unclear if Mody or the suspect opened the door.

Mody was well enough to speak to the police on Sunday to provide further information for the investigation. His wife spoke to the police Monday and reported that her husband is doing progressively better. He is in stable condition at Suburban Hospital.

Before the incident, there had been no other robberies or burglaries in the Kenwood Park neighborhood. This community is patrolled by a security company that all residents in the citizens’ association are required to pay for.
