December 6: Boys basketball holds off Landon 55–45 after first quarter surge

The boys basketball team (1–0) started the season off with a 55–45 win over the Landon Bears on Tuesday night.

The Vikings gained a strong 19–10 lead at the end of the first quarter. After letting their guard slip a bit in the second half, the team finished off the Bears in the fourth by outscoring them 13–11.

The Vikes were led in scoring by guard Joey Squeri who scored 14 points with three three-pointers. Forward Max Oppenheim notched 11 points and 10 rebounds, going seven for seven from the free throw line.

The Vikes’ home opener is against Gaithersburg on Friday at 7:15.
